The conference is organized by the Arbitration Institute of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce (SCC), AmCham Brazil Arbitration and Mediation Center and the Swedish-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce and will take place on 28 April in São Paolo, Brazil.
The conference “International Trade and Dispute Resolution” will focus on the commercial relationship between Sweden and Brazil and on the practical issues surrounding alternative dispute resolution in international trade disputes.
The commercial relationship between Brazil and Sweden has grown significantly in the past years. Brazil is the focus of major Swedish multinational companies, such as ABB, Astra Zeneca, Electrolux, Ericsson, SAAB, Scania, Tetra Pak, Volvo etc. To settle their disputes with their foreign business partners many Swedish and Brazilian companies resort to alternative dispute resolution mechanisms, such as arbitration and mediation.
This conference brings together in-house counsels, attorneys and representatives of the governments of Brazil and Sweden to explore the practical issues surrounding arbitration and mediation in international trade disputes.
The following topics will be discussed during the conference:
– How to Handle Disputes from a Corporate Perspective. Lessons from Swedish and Brazilian Corporate Counsels.
– Institutional Arbitration and Mediation and International Trade.
– How to Handle Disputes for Multinational Companies. The Lawyer’s Perspective.
